In a Dark Wood

In a Dark Wood - Josh Lanyon Grrrrrr, that one creeped me out!. Don't get me wrong, it was really good. I love the way Josh Lanyon creates his characters and develops his stories. But at the same time, this one chilled me and rattled me a bit. Not only the "intended" creepy part, but the personal issues as well. Lanyon didn't pick easy and light as a frame for his mystery, what somehow made it all the more real for me. And totally, totally broke my heart. Seriously, it was actually painful for me to continue reading sometimes. Which is really, really good - in a way. But on the other hand... pain and my broken heart AND some serious creeps? Left me a tiny, tiny bit freaked after finishing. The end was - difficult. Maybe it was perfect in way, for this particular story. But I have to admit, after everything's said and done, this is a HFN in the absolutely broadest sense. Yes, I was hopeful afterwards, but still not 100% happy. So, even though it's a great story, I didn't completely love it.
